Shopping for perfect carry bag for your iPAQ PAD

Once you have purchased an Ipaq PDA you next step will be to find a nice bag or case to carry it in. You want to protect your investment with a durable case. You should also make sure that your new case meets your needs. Bag-like cases offer you space as well as safety.
Learning about the different styles will help you chose a case or bag that meets your needs.
There are some really good reasons to buy a case or bag for your Ipaq PDA. The main reason may be to protect the PDA from breaking. If you have a sturdy case it can protect your PDA if it is accidentally dropped or stepped on. You can also protect your PDA from weather conditions if you are going to be using it outside often. Water damage to a PDA can be fatal. You will probably get a generic case from the manufacturer with your PDA. It will most likely be simple and constructed of cardboard and plastic. It may work for simple protection, like keeping your screen from gett8ing scratched, but for more serious protection you need to get another sturdier case. The investment you make in a new case or bag is well worth the protection you get for your investment in your PDA.
The types of cases vary from soft to hard covers. You can also get extra storage. There are soft covered cases that open up like a book with your PDA on one side and room on the other for a notepad. There are hard cases that offer the most extreme protection against any possible harm. Bag type cases are soft and look like a mini duffle bag. They not only house your PDA, but offer many different storage areas for your cell phone, a small snack, car keys or whatever you need to take with you. These bag type cases reduce the need for you to carry a purse or other bag and use only your PDA case. Another thing you may want to look at is how your PDA fits into the case. If you are going to want to use your PDA while it is in the case and it is a generic case that is not made specifically for your Ipaq then you may end up with problems. Buttons could be covered, the screen covered or speakers not clear so the sound is muffled. If you hook connections into your PDA often you should make sure you can do so while it is in the case if you intend to keep it in the case while using. Check how easy it is to put your PDA in and take it out of the case. Chose a case that offers you the features you need.
Going over why you need a PDA case or bag and looking into the different options in cases will help you chose the best case for you. Be sure to consider how you use your PDA and if the case will effect how you use it. It doesn’t hurt to try on your PDA case and give it a practice round to see how it will work if you actually buy it.

Need to buy PDA

Ok I am one of those people who tries and tries again to get organized. But something about small kids, going to school full time, writing full time and trying to expand my freelance photography just doesn’t add up to being easily organized. While my exact circumstances are uniquely my own, many people all across the world are busily trying to get organized when in fact it is virtually impossible due to their lifestyle. Personally, I have tried almost everything short of purchasing aPDA before to get organized and have finally broken down and gotten one. In short, I am much more organized now than I was before! Let me help you determine if aPDA or a Pocket PC will help, you too overcome the organizational monster.
Issue #1. If your planner was like mine, and resembles a large college textbook then it is grossly impractical to carry that huge thing around everywhere. Sure it is wonderful that is has pockets and possibly a calculator in it, it can even give you a place to jot some notes, as well as a calendar, but how often is it being used? Are you really taking it everywhere with you, so when changes occur you can adjust your schedule as needed? If you are like me, you have or had that huge planner that you vowed to help you get organized, and it has sat on your desk unused since after the first week you bought it.
Issue #2. You have kids, let us face it; kids do not equal being organized. In fact, kids will make you so unorganized it is not even funny! I have tried rather unsuccessfully to keep organized and not ship the kids to my mother’s house but have been very unsuccessful. Have you noticed most women with kids are lugging around huge purses? Have you wondered why? Most are trying to lug around that college textbook sized planner so they do not forget one of the activities in which the kids are signed up! In addition, the due dates of library books, doctor appointments. Much less anything that they are trying to remember for themselves.
Issue #3. If you have kids, you are lucky to find a place to put your things so a child does not touch it. It is very hard to explain and teach children that we do not touch other’s things. It is much simpler to hide a small 4″ Pocket PC or PDA than it is that huge textbook sized planner. The Pocket PC can be hidden in a pocket, up on a high shelf, or even in a purse. My newest purse has an awesome little pocket that is the perfect size to hide my Pocket PC in while my kids can never see it! Which is wonderful to help make sure it stays safe so I stay organized.
If you are considering purchasing a Pocket PC and are unsure, you should really consider the benefits that exist. I have personally purchased a Dell Axim X51v, it is less than 4″ high, and only about ½ ” thick, very small, yet extremely powerful. By adding some additional software I can track all of my financial information, mileage information, what library books are due, when the doctor appointments are, when bills are due, what phone calls I need to make, as well as To Do Lists, my entire movie collection, the weather and everything else I need to stay up to date and organized. This is a wonderful lifesaver to me in staying organized.
Since I purchased my Pocket PC I have lost about 20 pounds of paper out of my purse, so aside from the environmental benefits from not having 50,000 business cards, as well as the small pocket planner I kept that was 2 years old, and the extra cards that were not needed. I still have all of my information with me, but it is organized and compressed into something small enough that it is no longer a hassle taking it with me.
My children know to leave my “toy” alone, and they are happier since they are no longer late for Story Hour at the library, and they know that when I am organized I have a lot more time to devote to them, as well as writing. Another major advantage to my Pocket PC is the fact that it has Microsoft Word Mobile! This allows me to take my work with me! I can work on an article in the line at the grocery store, while waiting in the drive-thru and even while the kids are in Story Hour, and as long as I have a wi-fi connection, I can even check the status of my articles all on one small package.

Start moving anywhere with PDA & Bluetooth

Traveling is always easier if you take as little with you as humanly possible. It’s always the intention while traveling to carry only to what is most necessary. This is not always an obtainable goal, especially when you are venturing into parts unknown. In addition to the usual essentials, a sizable map and navigational equipment become necessary.
With the unveiling of GPS technology, traveling with maps and huge navigational devices becomes unneeded; a traveler need only carry a GPS receiver. A GPS receiver determines one’s exact position on earth by deciphering the information it receives from GPS satellites. With the assistance of other electronic devices, the GPS receiver will precisely determine your correct location on a map.
For even more even more functions and ease of use, GPS receivers can be used with other mobile devices. The PDA is one of the most frequently used mobile products for this purpose. PDAs make the perfect partner to the GPS receiver because of their unique features, such as a colored screen to display maps and hard drive space for map storage. And PDAs are light compared to other mobile devices such as notebook computers.
There is a problem with using a PDA with a GPS device, however. They do not always integrate well. GPS receivers are normally connected to PDAs using a CompactFlash (CF) card or USB wires. Because some GPS receivers are quite large, attaching it to yourPDA using CF can make it too large. Using the USB wires, however, can make your GPS receiver difficult to use and limit its usefulness.
So what could be the solution to this problem? A Bluetooth GPS receiver.
The Bluetooth Solution
Bluetooth wireless technology is the open standard for wireless communication. As long as the two electronic devices are with 10 meters of each other, Bluetooth technology will allow them to send and receive signals and transfer data. No wires are necessary.
Bluetooth GPS Recevier
The Bluetooth GPS receiver is simply a receiver that uses the Bluetooth technology and electronics to transmit GPS data to a mobile device. However, they must share the same technology. For example, if a Bluetooth GPS receiver will be used with a PDA, the PDA must have built-in Bluetooth technology.
The Bluetooth GPS receivers used with the Bluetooth capable PDAs offer many advantages over an ordinary GPS unit, which is connected to the PDA using CompactFlash or USB wires. These advantages include the ability to use wireless connections between the devices. Without wires to limit positioning between the Bluetooth GPS receiver and the PDA , you can place the two devices at their most advantageous locations. For example, if you are using your Bluetooth GPS receiver in your car, you can place the device where it has a clear view of the sky. Then you can place your PDA on your dashboard and have optimum screen visibility. Because the wires are not used to connect the two devices, their positioning will not hamper your driving. Also, because you won’t need to use Bluetooth’s Compact Flash slot, you can use it for other things, such as storing maps or software to optimize the GPS navigation.
Aside from these two advantages, the Bluetooth GPS receiver units have other features, although most of them are brand or unit specific. Generally, Bluetooth GPS receiver units now have pre-stored US maps, point-of-interest (POI databases and route recalculation functions.

Online auction for PDA’s

Are you planning to purchase a personal data assistant such as Palm TX or a smartphone? While you can purchase them from local retail stores, you probably will not get a discount on your purchase. One way that you can get the best PDA deals is to use online auction sites. However, you need to follow a few guidelines in order to make a good purchase.
Research retail prices for the item that you want. Some auctions are listed at retail or even more. Then, research the selling prices for completed auctions for the items that you are interested in. Make sure to note the condition of the product sold as this can greatly affect the price. This will give you an idea of the going rate for the item on that particular site.
Shipping prices vary. Do not bid if the shipping amount is not listed, or you may get a nasty surprise when you win. You can either email the seller for the cost, or only choose to deal with those that either quote a flat rate or provide a shipping calculator. Check also which shipping service is being used as you may not want an expensive item sent by first class mail or worse, have to wait weeks because a budget shipping method was used
Before placing a bid, check the feedback. You want to choose someone who has a high feedback rating. Although a negative here or there is to be expected especially with those who do a large volume of sales, the overall score should be high. Make sure that the seller has sold a number of items, preferably over 100, so you have some assurance that they are not fly-by-night. Also, look if the feedback is mostly from purchases rather than sales. Some unscrupulous people will buy a bunch of products to get a good rating and then turn around and rip people off when they list their own items.
If you are uncomfortable making a large purchase online, escrow services are available. These serve as a middleman between you and the lister so that you have some assurance that you will receive what you bought.

Using your PDa as Music Player

Your PDA can be used for many business and personal applications. One of these personal uses is that it can play MP3 music files. All PDAs come with MP3 players already in them. All you have to do is learn how to use them.
The first thing you will have to do is to store songs on your PDA. This is usually done by uploading songs onto a memory card from your computer. Then, you can put the songs into your PDA by attaching the memory card and downloading the songs.
You can also download music to your PDA using USB cables from your computer if your PDA has this capability. Another way to get music is by email, assuming your PDA can receive email. An internet-ready PDA can capture songs from the internet. When you get your PDA, look to the instructions to find all the different ways your particular PDA can download MP3s.
You can keep a set of memory cards with songs you want to hold onto, or you can use one memory card. If you use just one, you will always have to download any music you get from the internet or email onto a computer before your PDA memory becomes overcrowded.
If you are trying to play MP3 files from a stand-alone MP3 player, you may find that the files are not compatible with your PDA. MP3 files have to be formatted for the PDA. If this is the case, you will get an error message that lets you know.
Once you have downloaded your songs, you need to arrange them. You can sort them into play lists. That makes it easier for you to find the MP3 you are looking for when you want to hear it. With a few taps on your touch screen, you will be hearing your favorite tunes.
The windows media player makes it easy to know what you are listening to as it goes down a play list. The screen will display the name of the song, the artist, and the album. You can pause and un-pause the song that is playing by tapping a virtual button on the screen.
Of course, you can still use the MP3 function of your PDA even while you are busy accessing other parts of the PDA. It might slow down your work, depending upon how fast and powerful your PDA is. However, many people have gotten accustomed to working on their computers while playing their MP3s. If you are one of those people, you might like this feature.
When you start playing MP3s on your PDA, you will notice that there are small speakers on the PDA that allow you to hear the MP3 music. Some people are satisfied with these speakers, while others prefer the sound of the headsets that can be purchased separately. The headsets may have a higher quality sound. They also provide privacy for the user and keep down noise pollution for those nearby.
If you learn to use your PDA to play MP3 music, you will get a new kind of enjoyment from it. It is nice to have a tool that accomplishes the tasks you need to complete. It is even better to be able to do it while listening to the music you like.

Better opt PDA at bargain price

It seems that nearly everyone who buys a PDA either brags about how much they spent or what a bargain they got. While it is true that many PDAs are very expensive and some are cheaper, there are some bargains that you could do without altogether.
One of the most telling factors when it comes to the price of a PDA is its name brand. All the major name brands will cost more than the lesser known ones. However, there are several popular brands that are not as expensive that work just as well, depending upon how you intend to use your PDA.
Most people who can afford it would like to have a brand new PDA. They would not think of anything less. This is usually quite pricey, but there are ways to get a bargain that will not leave them with buyer’s remorse.
Sometimes, computer stores will sell PDAs at rock bottom prices if they are discontinued models. If you are not one who feels the need for the latest up-to-the-minute technology, you might be able to find a PDA that will work perfectly well for the way you want to use it. These PDAs usually come with warrantees and probably have never been taken out of the box.
Because many PDAs are also mobile phones, cell phone companies will often offer a discount on these devices when you commit to a contract with their service. This is a good way to lessen the cost of a PDA, but only if you want to use that company’s services for the specified amount of time.
Of course, you can always try E-bay or some other internet outlet to find a used PDA. This is never a wise move. There is a slim chance that you will get a PDA that will work and provide you with all your needs without problems. However, it is more likely that the PDA will not work immediately or will show problems over time. What is more, there will be no warrantee to back up the workmanship of the product.
Other sources of used PDAs are from pawn shops and from friends. Pawn shops are notorious about selling items that do not work. Some of them will take nonfunctional items back if you return them immediately, but do not count on it. This is no way to get a PDA, and you never know what will be stored on a PDA gained in this way.
When you buy a used PDA from a friend, you are taking your friendship into your own hands. Your friend may have the best intentions, and you may be open to the idea that the PDA is a fine piece of equipment. Yet, if something goes wrong, there will be hard feelings on both sides. Better to buy a new PDA and spare your friendship the stress.
A PDA bargain is really a bargain when you get a working PDA that you can count on for a reduced price. There are several ways to go about it. Almost none of them include buying a used PDA.

PDA’s Comparison

A PDA (personal data assistant) can be an important investment. Price is not the only issue facing a PDA shopper. One must also be concerned with features, as a PDA may become integral to one’s daily life and functioning. As such, before making a final decision, one must first be sure to compare PDA’s carefully.
Any time one is purchasing an electronic item, the popular Latin expression “caveat emptor” should come to mind. The phrase, translated as “buyer beware,” reflects the reality of the marketplace. One cannot trust that any given purchase will truly meet his or her needs or that any product in a category will be satisfactory. The electronics market is littered with sub-par products that are strongly hyped and sold on the strength of misleading or inaccurate marketing. PDA’s are not an exception to this rule. There are many options available, and they are not all of sufficient quality. That is why it is essential to carefully compare PDA’s.
How can one compare PDA’s? The key is identifying multiple possibilities that fit within one’s desired price range and then evaluating their features and qualities carefully to guarantee a satisfying purchase. As much as most of us would like to avoid extensive research and would prefer to simply pick “something” quickly, knowledge is power and a quality strategy to compare PDA’s can go a long way in avoiding disappointment.
One should start by formulating a list of the features they require in a PDA. The importance of each feature should also be noted, as some may be more critical than others. This may seem to be an unnecessary step. However, unless a careful list is constructed, one may overlook a particular PDA’s deficiencies or strengths while shopping. It is also possible to accidentally overlook a desired feature while he or she compares PDA’s—an error often not realized until it is too late. After assembling the feature list, one may then determine their budge for the purchase.
At this point, one should begin the hunt for an objective source of information that provides an in-depth look at the various features and options present in a wide array of PDA’s. Optimally, one will avoid relying upon sources that offer biased perspectives. For instance, a manufacturer’s website will probably do its very best to avoid mentioning areas of weakness, instead focusing on a PDA’s strengths. In order to compare PDA’s accurately, a more factual recitation of attributes is necessary.
One may then begin to compare PDA’s one by one, looking at each model that falls within the desired price range closely and noting which desired qualities it possesses and which it lacks. After assessing the PDA’s, the most clearly desirable candidates should be readily apparent.
Choosing a PDA can be a confusing process. However, by taking an informed and organized approach to finding the model that best meets one’s needs; the matter can be simplified a great deal. If one is willing to compare PDA’s based on a predefined list of desirable characteristics, conducted with budgetary restrictions in mind can help lead to a wonderful buying experience and will result in the purchase of PDA that will perform all necessary functions in a way that makes organization and scheduling a joy. Anyone in the market for these amazing tools simply must make the effort to compare PDA’s before making a purchase.

What PDA means?

One of the most common questions among those shopping for PDA’s is what does PDA stand for? A PDA is also known as a personal digital assistant, and that term describes its function pretty well. A personal digital assistant is designed to help the user get more done and be able to work smarter no matter what their job. So I would say that PDA equals GMD, Where GMD stands for getting more done.
When shopping for a PDA, it helps to think about the question what does PDA stand for. A PDA should function as your assistant, helping you to get the most done with the least amount of trouble and effort.
There are many manufacturers of personal digital assistants (PDA’s). Some of the most popular models of PDA’s are the palm and the iPAQ. The palm is made by Palm One Corporation and the iPAQ is made by HP. No matter what type of PDA’s you are shopping for, it is important to make sure they contain the features and specifications you are looking for.
Let’s have a quick look at the elements of a good PDA, and what you want to look at when you go out to get yourself one:
1. Maybe one of the most important elements of any PDA is its memory capacity. The memory capacity of today’s pocket pc models is much better than previous models, and increased memory means that more programs can run at the same time without degrading the performance of the pocket pc. I would say that with today’s demands of software, don’t even think of going with less that 32 MB Installed memory to start with. Of course, this can be expanded if future needs arise.
2. Another important thing to look for is a strong processor. Again, the processor chips available for today’s pocket pcs are much better and much faster than those made just a few years ago. A fast processor means that the PDA will function much more smoothly and not bog down as more programs are opened. It’s recommended you aim for the 624 MHz processor, such as the one installed on the iPAQ hx4705. If you have a modest budget, a 312 Mhz will do OK too.
3. Battery life is another important consideration when looking at the various models of PDA’s. A PDA with a dead battery is a useless PDA, so it is important to not only choose a PDA with a long battery life, but to carry a spare battery and a good charger as well. Today’s batteries are getting better and better, as the new Lithium Ion (Li Ion) PDA batteries are becoming more popular. These batteries are made using a new technology which makes them last %40 longer that the old Nickel Cadmium batteries. They are also a lot lighter in weight. Which makes them a perfect match for a PDA? The downside to the Lithium Ion PDA batteries is that they are more expensive, but in my opinion – this is a worth while investment.
So all you have to do now is to choose a PDA that meets your need. Good luck.
